If something is “in one’s wheelhouse,” it means that the subject matter or task at hand is in that individual’s area of expertise, skill, comfort, or authority. Originally, “wheelhouse” was a nautical term referring to the enclosed cabin on a ship that served as the captain’s command center. Later it came to refer to the “power zone” where a batter can hit a pitch most forcefully before being later generalized to its modern usage.
