Northwestern's owes its team name to a 1924 Chicago Tribune article detailing a recent football game where despite the university’s loss to the UChicago Maroons, the team looked like “wildcats [that] had come down from Evanston.”

I graduated from Northwestern University in 1998, with a degree in Computer Science, though I spent most of my time there designing for the newspaper, The Daily Northwestern. Every few months since graduating, I open up the latest NU alumni magazine with an eye out for the names of folks I once knew.
