There is not universal consensus on the origins of Mexico's name, but one theory suggests it comes from the Nahuatl expression Mēxihco ("place in the navel of the moon"). Mexico isn’t part of Central America (the theme for the week), but it is next door, and they celebrate their independence this week too: September 16 was the night in 1810 when Father Hidalgo's "Grito de Dolores" kicked off its own war against Spain.
