“The Rock,” a large boulder on Northwestern's south campus that students jockey to paint in the middle of the night, originated as a water fountain gifted by the class of 1902. Then the pipes froze over and burst, rendering it useless. It was painted over for the first time in 1938.

I graduated from Northwestern University in 1998, with a degree in Computer Science, though I spent most of my time there designing for the newspaper, The Daily Northwestern. Every few months since graduating, I open up the latest NU alumni magazine with an eye out for the names of folks I once knew. I'm thrilled to say that now I'm one of those names, thanks to this profile of me by Diana Babineau.
